Selma was the site for the Selma to Montgomery March in which protesters fought for voting rights. The iconic image of the Selma-Montgomery March is of the group is walking across the Edmund Pettus Bridge with Dr. King in which the group was attacked and sprayed with water hoses.. Selma protesters showed not only the South but America that equality is just as important to one person as it is to everyone.
